CardMaker and JessicaLynnOriginals Blog Hop

Welcome to another fun blog hop from CardMaker Magazine.  Today, we are hopping along with the JessicaLynnOriginal team and showcasing their adorable stamps. Be sure to visit all of the stops on the blog hop and leave some love, because one lucky duck is going to win a $50 gift card  to use at the JessicaLynnOriginal Stamps website. While you are looking around their website, be sure to download the free digital stamp that will be available.

I just had to create a scene with my Brentwood Owl stamp and decided that an easel card would be a fun way to show him off. The embossed graveyard was a perfect backdrop for his "spooky" Frankenstein costume.

Now it's time to hop on to Chrissy Hsu's fabulous blog and see what she has in store for you!

Colored Embossing Tutorial for Crafter's Companion

I've got a card to share with you today that was inspired by a tutorial by Kendra Wiestock, that can be found here.  I just wanted to update it a bit with current products from Crafter's Comapanion.  The embossed background makes it so easy to start coloring with the Spectrum Aqua markers.

Crafters Companion US supplies:
Distress Ink Mermaid Lagoon
Other Supplies: Green Cardstock, Want2Scrap Pearls, Paintbrush

 Directions:

  1.  Cut a piece of watercolor cardstock to the size desired for the embossed panel.
  2.  Emboss with the Beautiful Brambles folder.
  3.   Color the raised areas of the image with the Spectrum Noir Pencils, holding pencil on the side, and rubbing over the raised design.
  4.  Add color to the inner part of the image with the Spectrum Aqua Markers. Blend with a paintbrush, dipped in water.
  5.    Die cut the sentiment and glue in place.
  6.   Ink the edges of the design with Distress Ink.
  7.    Color pearls with Spectrum Noir Markers to match the card.
  8.  Finish the card as shown.

    Mixed Media Owl Canvas

I'm up on the ColourArte Blog
today, and if you head over there,
I've got a step by step tutorial on how I created this canvas.
Can you believe this design started with a piece of printed vellum?

    Simple Passion Flower

I love the beauty of this Passion Flower stamp from Technique Junkies - and originally, I was going to color the image with my Spectrum Noir markers.  I stamped the image in Memento Ink (Bahama Blue) - but the image was so pretty just as it was. I was afraid I would loose some of the detail on this stamp if  I did anything else to it at all. I paired it up with an embossed wood grain panel, and it actually became a cool masculine card (even though it's got a flower and bow - lol!
