Mixed Media Layout with Art Anthology

Today's layout is going to show you how to add stamped/painted canvas elements to your project.  It's a fun technique that adds a different dimension to your piece.

First, I decided where my photo would go on the layout, and drew it off in pencil.  Then I added Art Anthology Gesso around the borders and misted it with Cinnamon Toast Colorations. With my finger, I added Velvet Dimensional paint in Reef, Fiji and Portobello.  Then I stamped various background stamps (using StazOn ink).

To make the canvas flowers, I painted Desire (Velvet) over the canvas, leaving some areas uncoverd.  Next I sprayed Paprika over the rest of the canvas to fill in.  At this point, I stamped one flower on the canvas and cut it out.  The paint will help to keep the canvas from fraying.

For my other flowers, I painted Gesso over the painted canvas, and while the gesso was wet, I stamped the Worn Stars stamp into it (without any ink on it). This was allowed to dry completely, then the flowers were stamped and cut.

You can see the faint stars on the pink flowers.

I also used the gesso to stamp the drink ring stamp on the layout.

For the final detail, I made a heart from twine and used it to frame my photo.

Welcome to May Arts' Autism Awareness Day Blog Hop! The seventh annual World Autism Awareness Day is April 2, 2014. Every year, autism organizations around the world celebrate the day with unique fundraising and awareness-raising events.

Did you know ...

  • Autism prevalence figures are growing
  • Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the U.S.
  • Autism costs a family $60,000 a year on average
  • Boys are nearly five times more likely than girls to have autism
  • There is no medical detection or cure for autism

3 spools from our "blue" ribbons - winner's choice.

I was inspired by the words on this plaque found on Pinterest
for my mini album and incorporated them into my pages.

Cut a printed panel from the paper collection at 5 3/4" x 5 3/4".  Distress the edges. Mount on a 6 x 6" card base.  Stamp the Embrace Time Background with watermark ink and heat emboss with a gold powder.  Lightly brush gesso over the stamped area, and wipe away excess.  Use gelatos to add color around some of the embossed areas and rub in with your finger.  Spritz some Colorations mist over the card front.  Cut an "O" from the patterned paper and glue to the word "love". Stamp and cut the leaves with the corresponding dies, and shape them.  Adhere to the card.  Stamp the flowers with the watermark ink, and heat emboss with the gold powder.  Use the Plumeria ink to color the flowers.  Shape and add to card to finish.

Zva Creative March DT Blog Hop!

Hello friends! Zva Creative and our talented Design Team welcome you to our March blog hop!  We are very excited to have you join us today and hope you are inspired all of the beautiful work that we are about to share!
The hop begins at Zva Creative’s Facebook page! Be sure head on over to check it out! You will also find a complete list of all the participating blogs there (in case there is a glitch along the way).
As you know, Zva offers many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  If you like what you see along the hop you can find a list of stores and online retailers that sell Zva HERE.

Since Easter is getting close, I thought I would share a sweet card for the occasion, that would be perfect to add to your Easter basket.

My image ( La Blanche's Bunny Flower) was stamped in VersaMagic Niagara Mist and then cut with Spellbinders ( Opulent Ovals). I thought that the Zva Creative pearl flourish ( CRW-07CA-157), added dimension to the tall flowers. I also added one of Zva's pretty silk flowers (FL-04CA-130) to the card.

If you would like to play along with our design team, just follow along the blog path.  I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way!
The Blog Hop starts today, March 31st  and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, April 1st
***Prizes***
Hidden on FIVE of the blogs along the way is a Zva Creative prize package! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over. All you need to do is leave a comment on one post... you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. However, the more times you comment along the blog hop path, the more chances you will have to win.
The 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, April 2nd on Zva Creative’s Facebook page. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to Zva’s page on Wednesday to see if you are a winner!
We also thought it would be more fun to add even more chances to win our blog hop prize!  To increase your chances of winning:
* Comment to let us know that you posted on your Facebook page about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)
* Comment to let us know that you "tweeted" about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)
* Comment to let us know that you asked your local store to carry Zva creative products.  If they already do, that's fantastic, maybe you can suggest other products that they don't carry.
*Hop over to Zva’s Facebook page and “like” our page or leave a comment there to tell us that you stopped by if you already like us there!
The blog hop begins here at  Zva Creative’s Facebook page. Your next stop is Gine Silveira Enjoy!
Thank you for joining us!
P.S. Mark your calendar to join us again on April 28th for next month’s hop.
