Another Halloween Card

As usual, I have combined a couple of challenges. First, this week at Copic Buzz, the challenge was to use a digital image from KLM Digital Designs, and they were great enough to give us this digital image to use for this week's challenge. I used the sketch from S2G Twisted Thursday challenge. Happy Haunting!

Wildflower

I love wildflowers, so I was very excited about September's Stamp of the Month, Treasures from CTMH.After cutting my circles with Spellbinders, I misted the papers with Tattered Angels, Creme de Cocoa. Then I inked up my stamp and misted it with water before stamping. I added scattered Flower Soft in the new Polar White for flowers and texture. I used a water misting technique (this weeks challenge from Flourishes) to add to the dreaminess of this image. I wanted just a little more definition to my stems, so I added a few in with a copic Spica marker (love these for adding just the right amount of glimmer!) I used the sketch from the Card Positioning Systems site- CPS 134. Finally, I sprayed the entire card with the Tattered Angels and added a silk bow.

Trick or Treat

My favorite thing about Halloween, is how cute all the kids look dressed up for trick-or-treating. So, that is what inspired this card that was for the S2G Twisted Thursday challenge 25 and for the make a Halloween card challenge at Die Cuts R Us. The catch was to use the sketch and a Halloween embellishment. I thought if you turned the sketch upside down, the circle element would make a great moon.I used some brayer techniques that I love trying to duplicate from Michelle Zindorf's blog (although she is the master - and I am just playing!)I cut the little witch with the cricut with A Child's Year cart (still my all time favorite!) The tree is stamped with a CTMH stamp (Spellbound). For it, I inked it in versamark, then black momento ink. Stamped the first generation, then moved it slightly and stamped a 2nd generation for the shadows. I embossed the entire tree and inked over it. I added black shard glitter glass from art glitter for the road and oversprayed the entire card with Tattered Angels tiger lily.

Mini -Album for Cuttlebug Challenge

Cuttlebug Challenge is celebrating all month, their one year anniversary with a big party! The challenge has been to pick a theme for a birthday party and then each week, the challenge follows that theme. This week, everyone was to make a mini-album to go with their party. I embossed the outside covers with the Damask screen folder and the inside with Swiss Dots. I also embossed my strawberry on the front with the Swiss dots. For my pages, I sprayed them with Tattered Angels coffee shop and Robin's egg blue using their glimmer screens as a resist.

Have fun with the party!

Pretty Woman

Thanks to Gina K., I've found a new challenge blog that is really fun! It's Cinema Saturday and every week, they reveal a movie to use as the inspiration for the week. This week, the movie is Pretty Woman. How fun! Although, I've seen the movie many times, I went back and watched it again. It is such a modern day Cinderella story, it just made me feel happy watching it. The most inspiring part for me, is when Vivian tells Edward she wants the whole fairy tale. At this point, she sees her value, and her long forgotten dreams are rekindled. I hope that anyone who reads this blog and has lost hope of their dreams, realizes it is never too late! Don't give up!

I wanted this card to be elegant, so I used many rich textures. I love the SEI velvet papers, and I ran them through the cuttlebug with the Damask frame folder (In the movie, the wall of the hotel room had a gorgeous damask design on the wall). I oversprayed my quote - Once in a while Right in the middle of an ordinary life Love gives us a Fairytale, with tattered angels, Suede and Iridescent Gold. My dress and quote are from Sassy Studio Designs. I paper pieced the underskirt and sash, and ran the main body of the dress through my cuttlebug with the Swiss dots folder, then sanded the raised areas for the white dots. I added a border of antique lace to add to the textile qualities.

This was a really fun challenge to play, so go check it out!

Welcome to Fall!

I love fall! It is my favorite season of the year. I tried a technique that I have never tried on this card- cracked glass. It gives a pretty cool antique feel to the image. I added antique buttons and ribbon, and antique newspaper cardstock to complete the vintage look. The challenge at Flourishes this week was to mix it up. I not only combined different patterns, but also different textures- smooth, cracked glass, velvet paper from SEI, textured cardstock from Bazzil, and mother of pearl buttons. The challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ, was to use fall colors - so that was how I decided which copics to color with. I also added some highlights to the coloring with Spica pens.
