What are you doing to celebrate New Year's Eve?

I will be resting and relaxing, after calming down from finding out that I was chosen to be on the SASSY STUDIO DESIGNS DT!!!!!!! Yay! I am so excited! Lindsay's images are so fun. I always look forward to the 1st and 15th of every month to see what great images she is releasing. This card summarizes what my New Year's Eve will be. Hubby and I are staying in, making chocolate martinis and just relaxing!

This image is called a Glass of Wine. I decided to do some paper piecing after I had colored her (and printed her at some random size that I did not save). So to fix this little dilemma, I traced over the image on velum, then used some temporary adhesive to stick it onto the DP, and cut it out. I then removed the velum pattern and glued down my pieces. I also wanted to make the chair look like worn leather, so after coloring with the copics, I painted Tim Holtz's Crackle paint, rock candy, over the chair and let it dry. After the cracks appeared, I rubbed over it with distress ink. I used nestabilites that my husband bought me for Christmas to cut out a flower out of SEI Suede paper, which just kept the cozy, relaxed feeling of this card. I used a sketch from Papertake Weekly to pull the whole thing together.

Please check out Lindsay's other fabulous designs in the shop, and watch for challenges on the blog.

And there's more! Here are the details for the upcoming Customer Blog hop. Look at those fabby prizes!

Gift bag

I made this little gift bag using my cricut, and colored an image from Sassy Studio Designs. I actually used the sketch from The Pink Elephant. Sukkersot has a challenge going on now to create a gift bag.

I forgot to post this!

I made this Christmas Tree and forgot to share it with you. Instead of waiting until next year to post it, I thought I would show you now. You can't tell from the picture, but the tree is cut out of thick acrylic and sits on a candle light (so it's actually a very big lampshade if you will!) It is 3-sided and has several layers of swirls glued to the acrylic. I cut it with my cricut (Including the felt tree skirt) . Scrappy Frogs has a challenge to show your handmade Christmas decorations.

Quixotic Cards wants to know what was your favorite card this year? In return, you could win a yummy mystery package of goodies ! You have until Jan 4th to enter!

I had lots of cards that I really enjoyed making this year, but I've chosen this one as my favorite.

Wags n Whiskers

I got my first stamps from Wags n Whiskers and they are so cute. This is a new release called He Loves Me. I think she is just so cute! The challenge from WnW was to use dies (I used a spellbinders die to cut the swirls). I used the sketch from Midnight Madness. My colors were chosen from the Basic Grey challenge -pink,cream and blue. The challenge at Pixie Cottage this week is buttons. The challenge at the Crafting Pot is to create something with 5 layers (and yep, this card's got 5 layers of paper). Finally, the challenge at Crafty Creations is glitter.

Warming up with Sassy Studios

It is so cold right now! I think the temperature is supposed to be around zero, and that is way too cold for a Southern girl. I really don't drink coffee, and sometimes hot chocolate gives me a headache, so Russian tea does the trick! I decided to embellish my jar of mix using this cameo of Cocoa Carol, from Sassy Studio Designs. This is also for a challenge at Sukkersott, to make a food gift. I think this would be great to share a little warmth!

The Reason for the Season

I'm sneaking one last Christmas card in here for you! The challenge at All That Scraps was to make a Nativity card, or something else that shows the true meaning of Christmas. I didn't have a nativity stamp, but I did have this sweet baby Jesus stamp, and after all, He is the reason for the season and the reason for life! I hope everyone had a very blessed and wonderful Christmas!

Thanks for the Tweets!

I really do love the challenges at Copic Creations, because I always learn so much! The challenge this week is to color pine boughs. Now, I really would not have thought that there would be that much to learn about this, until I looked at the tutorial from Marianne Walker (she is the most amazing copic chic out there!) My image is from Karen's Doodles - and was perfect for practicing my coloring. I used the sketch from Create4Fun, while "thank you" was the theme from Papertake Weekly. My copic colors also worked for the Copic Colours Challenge this week. (Blue, brown and yellow)

Happy New Year's

If you follow my blog, you know I love the challenge of seeing how many challenges I can combine in one card. I had so much fun with this card and may have come close to setting a record for challenges met!

I used a different sketch for the front and right and left inside. For my images, I used digis from Sassy Studio Designs. I colored with copics, and added a layer of shimmer to the girl's dress with a spica marker. The clock has a layer of liquid glass over it to make it more realistic. I used a transparency printed in gold over the gray cardstock, to add a little bit more warmth.

When you open the card, the glitz continues! "2010" was stamped with Technique Tuesday stamps and embossed in silver. Swarovski crystals were glued onto the polkadots. One of the layers of cardstock was run through the cuttlebug with the Victoria folder.

On the right side, I again used an image from Sassy Studios, but instead of coloring the foil, I used a recycled piece of foil on the bottle. I added more of the transparency to tie everything together.

Ok.... So here is my challenge list!

Spoon Full of Sugar - front sketch
Get Sketchy - Trash to Treasure (foil)
One Stop Craft- Recycled (foil)
Everybody Art Challenge- New Year's
Cute Card Thursday - New Year's
Crafty Calendar Challenge - Winter Sparkle
Peachy Keen Challenge -Sketch - inside right
Simon Says- Party
Fresh Batch - sketch - inside left
Corrosive - New Year's Resolution
Stampin' Sisters in Christ - New Year's
Truly Scrumptious - sketch - inside right
Lili of The Valley - New Year's
ABC - "k" Kissing

Sweet Cupcake Carli

I love making easel cards! So I decided to make one for the Stamptacular Sunday challenge - to make a multi-fold card. I used this really cheerful image, Sweet Cupcake Carli, from Sassy Studio Designs. I colored her with copics and had some great BG cardstock that matched her sweet treat.

Flourishes ATC

I know many people are hooked on ATC's, but this is the first I have ever made one. So, thanks to Flourishes for issuing this challenge! It was nice to be able to make a quick little piece, and would be really sweet to add this on to a card base later. At 2 Red Bananas the challenge this week was for trees.

Inspired by Tim Holtz 12 tags of Christmas

Tim Holtz is an amazing artist and his products are no less amazing. This is the 3rd year he has created the 12 tags of Christmas - not only wonderful eye candy, but very detailed tutorials. After reading through some directions, I pulled out some of my Tim Holtz goodies and came up with this tag. I used a Bazzill chipboard tag base, that I inked up using the distress ink re-inkers. I the stamped snowflakes with Versamark and embossed with the Distress embossing powders. I had some sheets of grungeboard that I ran through the cuttlebug to cut out my frame. I sprayed it with Tattered Angels and rubbed distress stickles over the top. In my flourish cut out, I filled it in with another Distress stickles. I had a cool reproduction playing card that I used for my image and added a piece of Tim Holtz movie strip ribbon over the top. Then I added a little heavy metal and some BG fibers, inked the edges and was done.

Simon Says- tags inspired by Tim Holtz

Charisma Cardz - Anyting but Christmas

Doraline

I think Doraline was made for this paper (Twitterpated from CTMH). I love the trees and acorns, just the cutest! The stamp of course is from Motivet, and I used their sketch this week for the card. This is also my entry for Pixie Cottage (button it) and for Crafty Creations (no rules). This is also a card for a friend for the Sukkersott challenge.

Have a very Merry Christmas!

New challenge blog with a hop starting today!

And yet another card for today!

Last week, I did not post as many cards as normal, and I think I am trying to make it up in one evening! I have not played Midnight Madness in awhile, and jumped back in with this card. I thought the sketch would work really well with an aperture, which was the challenge at Cute Card Thursday. I will also add it on Simon Says (Christmas), Stamp Something (Holiday Somethings) and Creative Card Crew (Anything goes).

The image is a Pixie Chicks image from Louise Brigden, available at Charmed Cards and Crafts.

Holly the Christmas Friendship Fairy

I love Michelle Perkett's digi designs, and this one is called Holly the Christmas Friendship Fairy. I used the sketch from Michelle's PCP group (if you are not a member, run, don't walk to join!) Michelle is always so generous, and there are great freebies for members of her group, plus it's just such a fun bunch of ladies. I used the color challenge from Colour Create - pink, burgundy, and ivory. I'm also adding this to the list of cards I've entered at Creative Card Crew (Anything Goes) and Simon Says (Christmas).

Happy New Year's Day

This adorable digi stamp was free at The Greeting Farm, and I think he is just the cutest! I used a sketch from TGF (12 days of sketches, Day 2). The calendar is from Flourishes, and for their challenge, I stenciled over the top, using my Copic Airbrush system and an Anna Griffith brass stencil.

This card is also for:
Creative Card Crew - Anything Goes
Cupcake Challenges- A Time for Celebration
Paperplay - New Beginnings
Stampin for the Weekend- calendar
Charisma Cards- Anything but Christmas

Sugar Bowl

The Sugar Bowl is having a great challenge right now with an amazing prize. I used this adorable Sugar Nellie stamp for the sketch challenge. I love the embroidered lace around the circle (I picked up at a fabric store that is going out of business). I think she is sweet as sugar!

Pixie Cottage

I recently won this Pixie Cottage Stamp, and have to say that I love it! It was really fun to color and although it is a large stamp, it produced a very nice, clean image. So, I thought it would be a great pick for the Pixie Cottage Challenge this week (which was this awesome sketch). Green is one of my favorite colors, so I am using it for the challenge at Get Sketchy as well.

This is also for:
Double Dutch: handmade flowers
Creative Card Crew: Anything Goes
Charisma Cardz: Anything but Christmas

Thanks for Being So Sweet

I always think that Doraline is so sweet, so I thought the quote "Thanks for being so sweet" was a great sentiment. The challenge at Motivet was to make a monochromatic card. I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday. This is also my entry for Stampin for the Weekend (blue and brown) and Creative Card Crew (Anything goes).

The Music in My Soul

Since my husband is a musician, I was thrilled when I got the Magnolia Winter Club kit and it had Tilda with a piano! I needed to make a card for the accompanist for his concert tomorrow night...so here it is. And isn't it amazing that this card just happened to fulfill a bunch of challenges this week?

Club Anya Blog Hop

This can be a hectic time of the year, and I can't tell you how panic struck me this morning when I realized this hop was today and not next week! But I did manage to finish my project in time for the festivities. I started with a wooden sign, and then let the decorating begin. Anya and Ian are playing Mr and Mrs. Santa Claus for each other. I added tons of stickles, and dew drops, made hats for them with my Cricut and added real peppermint candies for the centers of the snowflakes and for the hollies.

Thanks for looking and enjoy the hop! For the list of hop participants, please go to Club Anya.

Where Oh Where Are You, Spring?

I know Christmas is not here yet, but Flourishes had a challenge for spring-time colors/flowers. They are releasing some gorgeous flower stamps tomorrow night - can't wait!

Blog Candy from Kellie

Head over to Kellie Winnell's Magnolia Down Under Blog to enter this candy.

Well tis the month of giving. And Lisbet feels the same ways as I do because when I asked her if she minded that I offered a personalised stamp as a candy she didn’t mind at all. A big thank you to Lisbet, she has been amazing to work with and check out her store HERE….

So you will be able to pick any stamp you see below, but of course only the ONE and it will be persoanlised to your liking, eg Name, Blog, Email…. Within reason…

untitled

I know, it will be VERY hard for the winner to pick just the ONE stamp…. But you can find more HERE… in my store…

What do you have to do to win? I have a couple of rules that I would really liked to be followed, as if they are not followed your link will be removed to make it fair for the people that have taken the time to do what is requested.

  • Either do a blog post or link this candy in your candy bar, OR both. If you do both it will double your chances as I am asking all that do both, to pop their name in Mr Linky Twice!
  • If you do a blog post could you please pop a direct link into Mr Linky to the blog post in question. And if you popped it in your sidebar, please leave a direct link to your over all blog.
  • In your blog post about the candy please leave a link back to this here post to share with everyone else.

That is all, you are welcome to become a follower but it really it not a requirement at all.

This candy will close on the morning of Saturday 19th of December 2009 and will be announced in my blog post for the next Magnolia Down Under Challenge on the Sunday 20th of December 2009.

Good Luck….

Swing Batter,Batter- BLING!

This is my first card for the Motivet Stamps challenge. Since Dexter is playing baseball, I tried not to go to frilly, but ...there is still quite a bit of bling going on. I made the flowers with newspaper and tissue paper that had been Glimmer Misted and cut with my nestabilities. I used the Martha Steward Crown punch, and added tiny little 2mm Sworovski crystals to each of the tips. I added some pearls that I colored with copics and finally a mixture of brown grosgrain ribbon and rafia. I think the colors and textures kept all of these embellishments from turning out too girly.

Monday, December 7, 2009

I made this little card this afternoon using a stamp that I won from the Greeting Farm and a sketch from Creative Inspirations. She just looks so prissy and cute!

Clean and Simple Christmas

I don't usually make CAS cards (my sister was laughing cause this was the first card in ages that I've made that I haven't distressed and layered to death! But I used this really cute image from Louby Lou to play the CAS challenge at Flourishes.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

We had just a tiny bit of snow here on Saturday morning- nothing that accumulated, but enough to remind you that Christmas is almost here. My image is from Sassy Studio Designs. I colored it with my copics, and added lots of stickles and Martha Stewart snow glitter. I think I have decided this gives a better snow effect than the white Flower Soft. I punched the icicle border out of silver glitter paper, and used a wonderful piece of antique metallic gold lace on my border.

This is a very sparkly card that I made for the following challenges:
Sassy Studio Designs: inspired by icy picture
The Fresh Batch: sketch
Pink Elephant: Your favorite Christmas colors
Digital Tuesday: Christmas Sparkle
Cupcake Crafts - Sing a Christmas Carol (White Christmas)
Whimsy- Die Cuts (Martha Stewart icicle punch)
Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential - Christmas flowers
Stampin for the Weekend- red, green, gold
Crafty Creations- lace and distressing
Crafty Catz- Red, green, silver

Mermaids in December!

We interrupt this Christmas season to bring you thoughts of warm weather and tropical days! I needed a little break from all of the Christmas cards, so when I saw a challenge issued from Charisma Cardz, Dreaming of Summertime, I thought this was a great chance for something different. The colors from Copic Colour Challenge fit in perfect for this tropical theme as well (Chrome Orange, Cerise and Yellow Green). I used the bonus sketch from Michelle Perkett Designs, and this is also her image, Tropical Rhapsody. I used a Martha Stewart branch punch to create my seaweed. My button embellishment started off as clear craft buttons, but I colored them with my copics.

This card is also for the following challenges:
LaLa Land- buttons
Cuttlebug Challenges- sparkle
By the Cute and Girly - Let's go to the Movies (Splash)

I am still sitting here writing this wearing a thick cashmere sweater, but at least I can pretend it is warm and sunny out!

Weave It!

The challenge at Stamptacular-Sunday Challenge this week was to weave something. I had been going to just weave a background plain and simple, but then thought, I wonder if there is some way to weave a snowflake ornament? I googled and found awesome instructions for weaving a paper snowflakes (see directions at HGTV). I used the Baby It's Cold Outside image from Sassy Studio Designs. I stitched around the edges with my sister's sewing machine, so I am using it for Everybody Art Challenge and Pixie Cottage Challenge. I think she turned out really cute!

A Christmas Wish Blog Hop

I am really excited to be participating in the first blog hop for the fabulous Michelle Perkett Studios! I am also very honored to have been named a member of her design team! This hop features the gorgeous Wishing Star Angel and also each designer will have the Christmas wish that they would make for someone else listed on their posting. You should have arrived from Tammy's blog, and after me you will head to Ellen's blog. Be sure to visit all of the blogs and leave a little love. when you are finished go to the Michelle Perkett Studio Challenge Blog, follow the directions and get a little gift! If you get lost, head back to the beginning at the Michelle Perkett Studio page at Paper Craft Planet (and if you don't belong to her group, sign up!)

My Christmas wish is for my sweet nephew Will-Will. Will is 8 years old and is a very special little boy. When he was 5 months old, he was diagnosed with an extremely rare neurological disorder called liscencephaly. Children with this disease are profoundly retarded and usually don't survive past 2 years old. He can't walk or talk, and has severe seizures. But he brings so much joy to me and my family with his sweet spirit. I was talking to a friend last week, and she said she believes babies are born not able to talk, because they've been in heaven with God - and we could not even comprehend the Glory of God that they would be able to share. That's what I always think about Will- that he smiles because he has a direct link to Jesus. So my wish and prayer would be for Will's seizures to stop and for him to be able to do things that he's never done, and some things that he just hasn't done in a long time. I also would wish peace and joy for my sister Lori. She is such a strong and amazing woman, and often people don't realize all that she has on her plate, but I love her and admire her.

Now, that I have tears streaming down my face, I can tell you that this card is not only my card for the hop, but for a ton of other challenges as well.

A Special Challenge from Sassy Studio Designs

Can you tell I am feelin' a little Sassy? SSD has just been giving some great challenges, and with their awesome images, you just can't go wrong. Disney has a new animated movie being released - The Princess and the Frog. The challenge is to make a card inspired by the movie. I made a tri-fold shutter card. You can see the Prince and Princess frogs on the front (with Swarovski crystal crowns, no less.) When you open the card, the ballroom scene is revealed with the Prince and Princess kissing. On the left side the sentiment reads: Sometimes you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your Prince Charming. The right side reads: Happily Ever After. For a regal feel, I used SEI velvet papers, embossed in the cuttlebug, colored the chandeliers with Copic Spicas for sparkle, and added more green swarovski crystals on the inside. I think this card inspires magical romance! There is still time to play this challenge, if you want to have a go at it!
